Philippe Dugourd, Directeur de Recherche au CNRS, est directeur
de l’Institut Lumière Matière. L’institut
Lumière Matière (iLM, UMR 5306) est une unité de
recherche CNRS-Université Lyon 1 localisée sur le campus Lyon Tech La Doua. Avec environ 300 collaborateurs dont une centaine de
doctorants, l’iLM est un acteur majeur de la
recherche en physique et chimie sur la région Auvergne Rhône Alpes, reconnu
internationalement pour l’excellence de sa recherche. La recherche
fondamentale, la réponse aux grands défis sociétaux et l’innovation sont au

Philippe Dugourd est ancien
élève de l’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris où il a obtenu un DEA en Physique
Quantique, suivi d’une thèse en Physique Moléculaire soutenue à Lyon en 1991.
Il a passé une année à l’Université Northwestern (IL,
USA) avec le Professeur M.F. Jarrold en 1995. Il co-anime une équipe de ~12 personnes qui développe la
spectrométrie de masse et l’optique au-delà des frontières traditionnelles pour
comprendre la structure, la réactivité, l’agrégation et la dynamique de
protéines, agrégats et nanoparticules. Il développe également de nouvelles
méthodes en spectrométrie de masse et leurs applications.
Il a publié plus de 300 articles dans des revues internationales à comité de lecture, 5 brevets, donné 50 conférences invitées et encadré 15 doctorants. Il est lauréat de plusieurs prix scientifiques, dont le prix « Anatole and Suzanne Abragam » de l’Académie des sciences et une bourse du conseil Européen de la recherche (ERC advanced grant). Il est Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes académiques.
Philippe Dugourd a notamment été vice-président délégué de l’Université Lyon 1 de 2012 à 2016, membre du comité national de la recherche scientifique (section 4), membre du conseil scientifique de l’Université Lyon 1, membre du conseil d’administration de la société française de spectrométrie de masse. Il est membre du conseil scientifique de l’institut de Physique du CNRS, membre du conseil d’administration de la SATT PULSALYS et directeur adjoint de la Faculté des Sciences de l’Université Lyon 1.
Philippe Dugourd is a senior scientist at the French
National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He is director of the Institute
for Light and Matter. The Institut Lumière Matière (iLM) is a

Philippe Dugourd is a former student of the Ecole
Normale Supérieure of
Paris, where he graduated in Quantum Physics, and was awarded a PhD in
molecular physics from the University of Lyon in 1991. He spent one year at
Northwestern University as a visiting scholar with Professor M.F. Jarrold in 1995. He heads a group of ~15 people which pushes
Mass Spectrometry and Optics beyond traditional areas to understand the
structure, reactivity, aggregation and dynamics of proteins, clusters and
nanoparticles. He also develops new methods and applications in mass
spectrometry and laser spectroscopy.
He received
several awards, among them the “Anatole and Suzanne Abragam
Award” from the French National academy for science and an advanced grant from
the European Research Council. He published more than 300 papers and 5 patents,
gave 50 invited talks and mentored 15 PhD students.
Philippe Dugourd has also been delegate Research Vice-President of
University Lyon 1 (2012-2016), member of the national council for scientific
research, member of the scientific council of University Lyon 1, member of the
board of the French society for mass spectrometry and member of the board of the
division for atomic, molecular and optic physics (PAMO) of the French Physics
Society. He is member of the scientific council of the institute of physics of
the CNRS, member of the board of the SATT PULSALYS and deputy director of the
Faculty of Sciences of the University Lyon 1.
