Paolo Maioli - CNRS researcher
Biography
-
Paolo Maioli earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1999. He pursued his Ph.D. at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, France, focusing on microwave cavity QED experiments under the supervision of S. Haroche and J.-M. Raimond. Following his Ph.D., he conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Florence, Italy, where he explored degenerate quantum gases with M. Inguscio group. In 2007, Paolo Maioli joined the FemtoNanoOptics group at the University of Lyon, France, led by F. Vallée and N. Del Fatti, where he currently works as a CNRS researcher. His current research interests revolve around linear and ultrafast spectroscopy of metal and hybrid nanoparticles, as well as carbon-based nano-objects such as carbon nanotubes and graphenes. He employs both ensemble and single-particle experiments to investigate their optical, electronic, acoustic, and thermal ultrafast responses.
